Google Messages will show a warning before clicking on a link
This feature, noticed by Android developers in the latest beta version of Google Messages, is part of Google’s recent security objectives. Accordingly, Google will issue a warning when you receive a message from a sender not in your contacts list before opening the link.
The warning on Android devices will remind users that the sender is not registered. It will alert users about potential risks before proceeding to the link. Currently, Google Messages displays basic link warnings, but these can be easily bypassed by users.
The new system requires users to pause and acknowledge their understanding of the risks by checking a box before opening links from unregistered numbers. The goal is to raise user awareness and make them more conscious of potential risks before navigating to the link.
Google continues to enhance messaging features with RCS technology. The new spam link protection will bring a similar feature found in Apple’s iMessage app to Android phones.
This feature is currently being tested in the beta version. However, if it passes the tests, it’s likely to be rolled out to the stable Google Messages application.
