Google is developing new features for the Android operating system. This time, the Play Store-based “archive” feature has started to be used. One of the most common problems on phones is the lack of storage space. The first step to save storage space is to uninstall an application you don’t usually use. Although this is a harmless process, it also causes all the data in that application to be deleted. The Archive feature planned by Google for the Android operating system plans to prevent these problems.
“Archive” can be a solution to the storage problem.
The archive feature, whose testing process was revealed in the past months, has started to ship via the Play Store. This feature will be fully tested by every Android user in the coming days. Thanks to this feature, if you use an application very rarely, you do not need to keep it on your phone. The “archive” feature allows you to preserve your own data and some systemic files in apps, and only delete the base app.
In this infrastructure, an application appears as it was before it was deleted when it is reinstalled. In the archive infrastructure, the icons of the deleted applications are not removed from the home screen, and the download is done directly when this icon is pressed. This eliminates the time-consuming hassle of going back to the Play Store to download or search for apps. Thanks to the infrastructure, up to 60 percent of space savings can be achieved in some applications. This will make a big difference, especially on phones with small internal storage space.
The archive infrastructure can be used in games as well as applications. It comes with the v33.4 version of the Play Store. The feature, which will be available at different times in different countries, of course, does not make a huge difference, but it creates the impression that many users will be more than satisfied.
