Google’s AI-based image generator Imagen 3 has finally been made available to all users for free. The AI is available to anyone using Gemini on mobile or desktop. However, while it draws attention with its capabilities, it also raises ethical concerns.
Google Imagen 3 is free again!
Developed by Google AI, Imagen 3 can generate photos from text descriptions. Google claims that Imagen creates higher quality and less glitch-free images than previous systems.
The ability to create many different images other than real people will be limited to the paid Gemini Advanced subscription for now. However, this has led to criticism that Google prioritizes profit over user privacy and security. The company said it chose this path to prevent deepfakes and unauthorized surveillance images.
The technology giant first announced the improvements to Imagen at its I/O developer conference in May. Following the announcement made recently, the Imagen 3 tool has officially become available.
It was reported that Imagen 3 produces images with better details, richer lighting, and less artifacts compared to previous versions. Similar to other AI image tools, users will only need to enter text.
Imagen 3 has also been seen to produce logos of major companies when requested. This means that Google’s protection measures have some flexibility.
