After Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro models landed in the hands of users, they underwent Geekbench tests. In theory, the Tensor G3 processor, competing in performance with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, does not seem to deliver the expected performance.

Tensor G3 Falls Short in Performance Compared to Its Competitors!

Google utilizes its self-developed Tensor G3 processor in its new models, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The Tensor G3, an octa-core processor, houses 1 x Cortex-X3 (3.00 GHz), 4 x Cortex-A715 (2.45 GHz), and 4 x Cortex-A510 (2.15 GHz) cores. Despite expectations of surpassing the 8-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset in terms of performance, the Tensor G3, according to Geekbench data, does not deliver the anticipated performance.

In the Geekbench test, the Google Pixel 8 Pro equipped with the Tensor G3 processor scores 1760 points in the single-core test and passes the multi-core test with 4442 points. When we look at the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, leaving aside the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, it achieves 1976 points in the single-core test and an impressive 5149 points in the multi-core test.

Upon analyzing these scores, it is evident that the Google Pixel 8 series falls short of the expected performance. The Tensor G3, at least, does not deliver performance on par with its competitors, disappointing Pixel 8 users. Of course, the Google Pixel 8 series offers sufficient performance in practical use. However, there are clear indications that there are not significant differences compared to the previous generation.
