Google unveiled the Pixel 8 series and Android 14 at the Made by Google event in the past hours. After the event, it released an important software update for the Pixel Buds Pro headset. The most important feature of the update was Speech Detection similar to AirPods Pro 2.
Google Pixel Buds Pro gets legendary features
Some of the new features include Speech Detection, Bluetooth Super Wideband support and a new low latency gaming mode. The most important detail of the update seems to be the support for Speech Detection.
Speech Detection allows the headphones to automatically pause the music and hear outside sounds when the user starts talking. It uses artificial intelligence to detect conversations without the need to remove the headphones.
Bluetooth Super Wideband doubles the bandwidth during calls, providing clearer sound quality in phone calls. Google says this will improve Clear Calling on Pixel and reduce background noise during calls.
In addition, the update introduces hearing health tracking in the Pixel Buds app. It will show users how long they’ve been listening to loud music and will send volume reduction alerts to help maintain hearing health.
Finally, there’s a low latency gaming mode that automatically kicks in when playing games on Pixel phones. Google claims it halves latency to make the gaming experience more vivid.
