Ana sayfa / Smartphones

Google’s first foldable smartphone, Pixel Fold, was released for sale as of June 27. The device, which was unveiled during Google I/O 2023 and has been available for pre-order since June 10, has finally reached users. However, some journalists who purchased the phone in advance to test it claimed that the screen had dead pixels and the hinge became sluggish within four days.

Google’s Pixel Fold faces screen durability challenges

Google Pixel Fold’s screen lasted only four days Foldable smartphones use flexible OLED panels for hinge compatibility. These panels are coated with an “ultra-thin glass” layer that enables folding. However, it seems that the ultra-thin glass used in Pixel Fold is not successful enough. The fragility of the ultra-thin glass and the limitations of the plastic layer made Pixel Fold unusable within four days.

While the protective plastic layer is important for the durability of the OLED, it does not cover the entire screen. This design indicates that the edges of the OLED panel are unprotected.

Google Pixel Fold introduces an innovation that will make iPhone users jealous! Additionally, the frames on Pixel Fold’s screen are almost completely aligned. According to Google, the absence of gaps between the screens when the phone is closed enables long-term use. Google claims to have achieved what the Galaxy Z Fold series couldn’t in this regard.

Pixel Fold has a 5.8-inch FHD+ OLED screen on the outside and a 7.6-inch OLED screen with a 6:5 aspect ratio on the inside. The foldable phone is powered by the Tensor G2 chip, which is also used in Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. It features 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB/512GB UFS 3.1 internal storage.

According to Google’s statement, Pixel Fold weighs 283 grams. The price of Google Pixel Fold is $1799.
