This significant update introduces a new “Satellite Emergency SOS” feature, enhancing safety and communication capabilities for Pixel users.

The “Satellite Emergency SOS” feature is now visible in the Security and Emergency section under the Settings menu of Pixel devices. Google seems to have widely distributed this setting to nearly all Pixel devices through a recent update in its Adaptive Connectivity Services. However, it’s worth noting that the feature has not been activated yet, meaning clicking on the Satellite Emergency SOS setting currently does not open any screen.

The 9to5Google team has managed to access the menu prepared by Google for this feature on a rooted Pixel device. The Satellite Emergency SOS page offers the following capabilities:

The page also includes a link to a Google support page detailing which countries support the Satellite Emergency SOS feature, although the page is not yet live. Additionally, a link to the Garmin Search and Rescue Insurance plan is available.
