Google Play has introduced the much-anticipated update

Google Play system updates, a crucial part of Android devices that ensure phone security and fix bugs, sometimes caused unexpected problems. Uninstalling these updates, unlike standard apps, used to be a challenging process. Google is finally fixing this issue and making it much easier to uninstall the problematic updates.

Previously, the only way to officially roll back a Google Play System update was to use a dedicated tool. This method required connecting the phone to a computer and using ADB (Android Debug Bridge), which most casual users were unfamiliar with. Because of this difficulty, uninstalling a problematic update was a process many users avoided or didn’t even know was possible.

Google is now offering a much easier option. A new entry called “Mainline services” has begun appearing in Google Play Services on some devices. This feature is still in the rollout phase, but when it becomes available, Google Play System updates will be able to be installed directly from the phone, eliminating the need for a computer.

When the user taps “Mainline services,” they are taken directly to the Play Store page. If there is an update waiting to be installed, a button appears to restart the phone.

However, after the update is installed, a new button called “Uninstall Updates” appears on the screen. Tapping this button displays a warning message stating that uninstalling system updates may affect the phone’s features. If the user chooses to continue, the problematic update is uninstalled.
