Google Play Store has been renewed: Here is its new look!

Ana sayfa / Android

Google is renewing the Play Store for devices with larger screens such as foldable phones, Android tablets, and Chromebooks. The company first mentioned the subject of these changes at Google I/O last year. Now, they are pursuing four major updates that will allow users to find apps optimized for larger screens more easily and improve the functionality of the Play Store on these devices.

Among Google’s new plans is to highlight games that feature high-quality and “accurate” promotional videos. Users will see video banners at the top of a game’s listing page, allowing them to get an idea about the game before downloading it. This feature aims to provide users with a better understanding of the game’s content and gameplay before making a decision to install it.

Google is also redesigning the layout of app and game detail pages in a multi-column format to bring the content higher up on the app listing page. Some apps will be highlighted specifically for foldable devices and tablets. Apps that are well-resized across devices and support both vertical and horizontal orientations will be given more prominence.

Editor’s Choice and other curated collections and articles will also take these criteria into account in the future. This can be seen as Google’s way of encouraging developers to make their apps more suitable for larger-screen devices. However, the changes are not limited to these. Google is also pursuing a series of innovations to enhance the navigation experience within the Play Store app.

Now, on your tablets, Chromebooks, and foldable devices, you will see a navigation bar on the left side. This makes menu items more accessible, especially when you hold a large-screen device in landscape mode. But that’s not all; Google is also introducing a split-screen experience to better compare apps while searching.

Users will be able to see search results and app details pages side by side. This will provide convenience by eliminating the need to switch back and forth while looking for new apps. These changes are expected to be rolled out in the app next week.
