Chromecast Officially Phased Out

The new device replacing Chromecast is the Google TV Streamer, set to launch on September 24. Priced at $99.99, this new device offers significant hardware improvements compared to Chromecast with Google TV. The Google TV Streamer features a processor that is 22% faster and supports smart home technologies like Thread and Matter integration.
Google attributes this change to the dramatic evolution of technology. The company noted that it has made significant investments in integrating Google Cast technology into millions of TV devices and Android TV.
While Google’s announcement did not provide specifics, it is clear that the Chromecast’s low price point of $29 was not generating substantial revenue for Google. Even in 2024, the device managed to offer an entry-level experience at a very affordable price.
