Google has been working on enhancing its search engine with AI-based features for some time. The company provides AI-generated summaries through a function called Search Generative Experience (SGE), which offers users quick and clear responses to search queries.
Google conducts global tests for AI-powered search results
Recently, following trials in the United States, the company began global tests to integrate AI summaries into Google’s regular search results. This new feature includes small information boxes containing answers to questions about specific people, places, or organizations.
It’s reported that these AI-generated summaries currently appear only in the mobile app. This feature, still in the testing phase, is seen as part of Google’s efforts to make its search engine more user-friendly and faster.
SEO expert Brodie Clark noted that he received AI-generated answers using a VPN in his home country and countries like the United Kingdom, the United States, and India. Google caches the responses to avoid long loading times, allowing AI summaries to be quickly presented to users without additional wait times.
However, there are some criticisms. The AI information boxes often show sources from popular references, such as Wikipedia, while less-known but reliable sources may require additional clicks.
Moreover, the experimental label, “AI-Overviews are experimental,” is displayed in a small and inconspicuous manner. This minor warning could make it difficult for users to recognize the experimental nature of these features during the testing phase.
It’s unclear when Google will introduce this AI-powered feature in Turkey. However, the global tests indicate that AI information boxes could soon become a standard part of Google Search.
