Google Tensor G5 chip’s performance shattered dreams!

Ana sayfa / News

While Google’s next-generation Tensor G5 chip is being prepared with great hopes for the Pixel 10 series, the results of Geekbench tests were surprising. While the Tensor G5 is expected to provide a performance boost, users were disappointed that it scored lower than the Tensor G4. The fact that this chip is based on TSMC’s high-end N3E manufacturing process raised expectations, but the results are below expectations.

The Tensor G5 scored 1323 on single-core and 4004 on multi-core in Geekbench testing. By comparison, its predecessor, the Tensor G4, scored 1950 on single-core and 4741 on multi-core in tests on the Pixel 9 Pro. So, the new chip doesn’t offer the expected performance boost.

In fact, these results sound counterintuitive because the fact that the G5 is built on TSMC’s more efficient and powerful manufacturing process should have made it more powerful than its predecessors. Therefore, it is possible that these tests are based on an early release or that the test results could be misleading due to various factors.

Looking at the processor structure of the Tensor G5, two energy efficient cores run at 2.44 GHz, four cores run at 2.86 GHz and one main core runs at 3.40 GHz. Although this structure looks promising at first glance, it has not yet been fully demonstrated in performance tests.

It is thought that these tests, conducted before the chip reaches its full capacity, may be misleading. After all, the Google Tensor G5 can show its true power when it reaches its full performance with the launch of the Pixel 10 series. What this performance will mean for Google in the long term is unclear.

While the new Tensor chips are expected to be more successful in artificial intelligence tasks, current performance test results have raised questions about daily use performance. We’ll have to wait for the Pixel 10 to hit the market to see what Google really has to offer with the Tensor G5. For now, these test results show that Google still has some shortcomings in delivering high-end performance on its flagship devices.
