Google is working on a new feature to identify calls from unknown numbers. With the “Search” option to be introduced in the Phone app on Android, users will be able to enhance their privacy by directly querying a number on Google.
Search Unknown Numbers with One Tap on Google
The feature found in the latest beta of the Google Phone app allows users to query numbers in their call history on Google and other internet sources. Users can select an unknown number from the Recent Calls tab and search for it on the internet, including Google, by tapping the Search button and selecting “Search with Google.” This is expected to make it easier for users to access business accounts, especially.
It’s worth noting that the search feature is not designed to replace applications like Truecaller, which identify caller IDs. Instead, it aims to facilitate users in finding businesses with identified numbers on the internet.
This feature was introduced with the Feature Drop released for Pixel phones in March and is being tested in Japan. It simplifies the process of searching for unknown numbers on the internet.
Additionally, Google is reportedly working on a new design for switching from voice calls to video calls in the Phone app. This will allow users to make video calls directly from the Phone app without switching to different applications like WhatsApp.
