Google has been trying to make some changes to its ecosystem, and the company announced its first steps on Tuesday. According to the official announcements, Google is bringing new rules and policies to inactive Google accounts, including Gmail and Photos. The tech giant will delete inactive accounts, which have not been used or signed in to for at least 2 years. However, the new changes will not affect old accounts with YouTube videos. Here are the details…
Google will not delete accounts with YouTube videos
At first, Google announced that it would delete all accounts, including content within Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Calendar, Meet, Drive), YouTube, and Photos. Today, the brand revealed that it won’t delete accounts with YouTube videos because these accounts might have thousands of videos on the platform. In order to keep the videos on YouTube, the company will not delete these accounts.
A Google spokesperson says, “At this time, we do not plan to delete accounts with YouTube videos.” Probably, the tech giant will start deleting inactive accounts in December 2023 because it announced that the process will roll out slowly and carefully.
The company also says, “Before deleting an account, we will send multiple notifications over the months leading up to deletion, to both the account email address and the recovery email (if one has been provided).”
