In Germany, a startup has developed a green hydrogen generator capable of illuminating your home for several days using just two liters of water. Imagine this: the device uses only water to meet your home’s energy needs virtually for free and without harming the environment. Here’s what the green hydrogen generator can do…
Green hydrogen generator produces several days of electricity with just two liters of water
The project is led by Vaitea Cowan, an entrepreneur born in the South Pacific islands affected by climate change. Cowan embarked on this journey to replace diesel generators and offer a pollution-free alternative, taking a step towards ending humanity’s dependency on fossil fuels.
Her company, Enapter, has deployed this technology in over 100 projects across 33 countries worldwide. The technology, called AEM electrolyzer, converts renewable electrical energy into emission-free hydrogen gas. Hydrogen gas is being described as the new way to power vehicles, energize industries, and even heat homes.
So, what is green hydrogen? Most of the world’s hydrogen is found in water. Green hydrogen is produced by the electrolysis of water using renewable energy sources. During this process, water molecules are split into hydrogen and oxygen.
Electrolysis forms the foundation of hydrogen production. Enapter has made this process more efficient and economical, successfully bringing green hydrogen to our homes. The best part is that this technology has moved from being high-cost and low-efficiency to something that can be easily used in our homes.
Enapter even won Prince William’s Earthshot Prize in the ‘Fix Our Climate’ category for their achievements. Now, with half the amount of water used to flush our toilets, we can light our homes for several days. This is great news for both our wallets and our planet.
With green hydrogen generators, we can move towards a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future in energy. What are your thoughts on this? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments section below.
