GTA 5 Loses Steam Deck Support!

Ana sayfa / News

Players using cheats have always been a headache for GTA players. Cheaters in GTA Online continue to cause trouble on every platform, but it seems that, at least on Steam Deck, their time is over. With a recent update from Rockstar, Steam Deck support for GTA 5 Online has been cut off. Here are the details…

GTA 5, which had been among the top 20 most played games on Steam Deck for nearly two years, is no longer supported. Rockstar introduced the BattlEye Anti-Cheat update to GTA Online to block cheaters, but unfortunately, this update did not make the game compatible with Steam Deck. As a result, Valve has marked GTA 5 as unsupported on the platform.

Although Rockstar has not made any official statement, players who reached out to support confirmed that while GTA Online is no longer supported, the Story Mode can still be played. Similar issues had previously occurred with games like Fortnite and Roblox, which also faced problems with Steam Deck’s Linux-based system.

GTA 6 release delayed? Former Rockstar executive reveals

A former Rockstar executive who worked on GTA 4 spoke about the GTA 6 release date. Here are the details.

Instead of enabling the Online mode for the console, Rockstar blamed Valve, stating, “Steam Deck does not support BattlEye for GTA Online,” shifting the blame directly to Valve. Rockstar has also left questions about why no adjustments have been made so far unanswered, while confirming that only GTA V’s Story Mode can be played on Steam Deck.

Although anti-cheat measures like this improve the overall gaming experience, the fact that Valve’s Steam Deck had received BattlEye support years ago raises questions for Rockstar. Furthermore, it was explained that running games with BattlEye on Steam Deck is relatively easy, yet Rockstar has not responded to this.
