HBO Max will lose Harry Potter movies as of August 31
By the end of August, all eight Harry Potter movies will be removed from HBO Max. Instead, those living in the USA can watch Harry Potter movies on the Peacock platform. Fantastic Beasts movies, however, will remain on HBO Max, as will the cast reunion that aired at the start of 2022.
When HBO Max first launched in May 2020, it boasted the entire Harry Potter collection, but for only a few months, Peacock got the exclusive rights that year. HBO Max secured movies again in September 2021, but only for a year, and now they’re returning to Peacock.
The Harry Potter movie series was made by HBO Max’s parent company, Warner Bros. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, the latest movie for the Harry Potter world of 2022, brought in just $405 million worldwide. With that revenue well below expectations, Warner Bros. kept its mouth shut about the upcoming movie. Considering the information that HBO Max will no longer release the Harry Potter movies, some question marks come to mind.
The biggest of these question marks is whether Warner Bros. will give up on the Harry Potter universe. While nothing is clear yet, J.K. It should also be noted that Warner Bros. will not be able to produce anything, Harry Potter, without Rowling’s signature. Because J.K. Rowling still holds the franchise rights to Harry Potter.
