Helldivers 2, which has seen a drop in player numbers in recent weeks, is back with the Escalation of Freedom update. Since the release of the update, the number of players on Steam has skyrocketed, doubling the number of concurrent players.
Helldivers 2 player numbers soar with the latest update
Before the update, Helldivers 2 was averaging around 30,000 players per day on Steam. However, after the release of Escalation of Freedom, statistics show that the game attracted over 62,000 players. This is more than double the recent average.
The new update aims to breathe new life into Helldivers 2 with various gameplay additions. Players will now have new enemy types to fight, larger outposts and a new difficulty setting.
Arrowhead, the developer of the game, continues to attract players with new content. With the recently released update, random planet hazards have been added. Also, mechanics are now fully playable after an operation on the planet Tien Kwan.
The game’s momentum had slowed considerably on Steam. Helldivers 2 reached over 458,000 concurrent players on Steam shortly after launch. Over the weekend, the number of players did not exceed 30,000.
It is also thought that players may have gotten bored with Helldivers 2 after four months. It is possible to say that it has gained a new momentum with Escalation of Freedom.
