Last week, Helldivers 2 broke its own record with more than 333,000 players entering the game at the same time, and its servers were not enough for the situation. Now the game’s CEO has announced that the Helldivers 2 player limit has been increased.
Helldivers 2 player limit increased to 700,000
Johan Pilestedt, CEO of developer Arrowhead Game Studios, believes that despite the player limit being raised to 700,000, the game will surpass it.
In a post on the X platform, he noted that the simultaneous online player (CCU) cap has been increased to 700,000 players, but said he expects it will still be reached.
“There is one last update for tonight. We’ve increased the maximum CCU cap to 700,000. Unfortunately, we expect CCU to reach that level as well. We think the waiting times will be much more bearable. We’re making final adjustments tomorrow for the weekend.”
Helldivers 2 has been a huge success on Steam, peaking at 457,649 players at the same time on Wednesday (PS5 players were not accounted for, you get the idea). However, players have been complaining about long wait times when trying to get into the game, which is due to the servers reaching their limits.
To reduce server crowding, a new update for the game was released yesterday, which aims to prevent idle players from taking up server space. Players have been logging in pretending not to be playing to avoid huge queues when they want to play the next game.
