Here are some of the new features coming with One UI 8.5!

As Samsung continues to roll out its Android 16-based One UI 8 update to older Galaxy models, new details about the next version, One UI 8.5, have begun to emerge. Leaks indicate three key improvements that will improve users’ daily experience.

According to information shared via SammyGuru, the updated Camera app will allow users to quickly switch between multiple video presets. Different looks, such as Blockbuster and Thriller, can be selected by simply swiping the screen. This feature could be a particularly noteworthy innovation for content creators and video enthusiasts.

Another discovery was found in the Camera app code. This includes references to 3D, VR, and spatial media. This suggests Samsung is working on advanced features like 3D photo and video capture. While the spatial media experience offered by Apple on iPhone models is only fully available with the Vision Pro headset, Samsung is known to be developing its own AR/VR headset. Therefore, it seems likely that One UI 8.5 will work integrated with this hardware.

The third feature, which we’ve shared details about, is connectivity. The new software, with its AI-powered Smart Connection Assessment and Smart Network Switch features, will allow the device to switch more seamlessly between Wi-Fi and cellular networks. The system will evaluate the security and speed of Wi-Fi and automatically switch to a mobile network when necessary. This means users will switch networks automatically, rather than manually.

No official release date has been announced for One UI 8.5 yet. However, it seems likely that the update will be released alongside the Samsung Galaxy S26 series.
