As the world-renowned giant technology companies go through turbulent economic times, former and current employees can provide exclusive information about their harsh working conditions: A former Nvidia employee made some pretty scary claims about the company’s weekly working hours. Here’s what the employee had to say about the company…
Former employee: “Nvidia made us work 7 days a week”
Nvidia’s work environment is known as one of the most challenging and competitive in the tech world. On the one hand, employees who earn multi-million dollar fortunes, on the other hand, have to spend almost all their time in the office to deserve this wealth.
The company’s CEO, Jensen Huang, is known as an executive who openly acknowledges and even advocates for tough working conditions. Working at Nvidia should not be easy, Huang says, because sacrifices are inevitable in order to achieve extraordinary things.
According to a former Nvidia employee, working hours, especially in the engineering department, have reached levels that are beyond the human level. Shifts past midnight, workloads that continue even on weekends and stressful meetings have become a daily routine at Nvidia. The former employee claims that they were forced to work over 80 hours a week without a day off.
Interestingly, however, this intense pace doesn’t seem to be affecting employee turnover rates. With a turnover rate well below the industry average, Nvidia somehow manages to retain its employees.
Despite Nvidia’s challenging work culture, there are several reasons why employees prefer to stay with the company for a long time. First, the stock incentives offered by Nvidia create an attractive financial advantage for employees. As the value of the stock increases, these incentives increase employees’ motivation to stay with the company.
