Heretic + Hexen Return With Modern Upgrades

Bethesda has officially brought back Heretic + Hexen, giving the classic first-person shooter duo a new life on today’s hardware. These updated releases aim to preserve their iconic gameplay while making them run smoother and sound better for modern players.

The re-release is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Developed in partnership with Nightdive Studios, the package includes enhanced visuals, improved performance, and a remastered soundtrack by Andrew Hulshult.

Players will get the original titles plus expansions and brand-new content:

Cross-platform online play, local split-screen deathmatch, co-op modes, and in-game mod support add even more ways to experience the classics.

During QuakeCon, Bethesda also rolled out Update 2 for Doom: The Dark Ages. The patch adds free content, fixes numerous bugs, and improves quality of life. A standout addition is the Ripatorium, an endless arena mode with customizable waves and time-limit challenges.

Jump into the game before September 2 to earn two free skins. Completing all three new arenas in the Ripatorium will unlock the Perfection Doom Slayer skin.

With Heretic + Hexen now running flawlessly on modern systems and Doom: The Dark Ages receiving fresh content, Bethesda is keeping its shooter heritage in the spotlight. The combination of nostalgia, technical polish, and new modes offers something for both long-time fans and players discovering these series for the first time.
