Apple is allegedly planning to equip its retail store employees with a fresh sales tool – the ability to arrange home deliveries for customer purchases. According to Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, the tech giant is gearing up to extend beyond in-store pickups, allowing customers to have their orders delivered right to their doorstep.
Launch of EasyPay Online Ordering Program
This upcoming change is part of the new EasyPay Online Ordering program, set to roll out in stores starting from August. The introduction of home deliveries from physical stores signifies a potential strategic change in Apple’s retail operations.
Until now, Apple store personnel could only suggest customers make their online purchase or aid them in placing an order on the website. With the official program, home shipping will be seamlessly integrated into Apple’s retail EasyPay terminals.
The Benefits of Home Delivery
Opting for more home deliveries for customer sales could allow future Apple stores to allocate less storage space for inventory. Moreover, it would offer customers the convenience of having even bulky items, such as an iMac, shipped directly to their homes, saving them the hassle of carrying the item out of the store.
A Role in Vision Pro Launch?
Gurman further speculates that home delivery could play a crucial role in the launch of Vision Pro. With numerous combinations of accessories available, it’s unlikely Apple stores will stock everything. Yet, with the option for home delivery, stores can still fulfill Vision Pro orders, even if they don’t have all parts in stock simultaneously.
