The company’s Magic 6 Pro device was internationally introduced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, on Sunday. As part of the press conference, Honor showcased the eye-tracking vehicle control technology on its smartphone.

The phone utilizes selfie cameras and artificial intelligence to track where your eyes are looking on the screen. A demo included an application for controlling a vehicle.

The app features four commands: start engine, stop engine, reverse, and forward. Particularly, Honor released a video demonstrating how a person could perform functions such as making the vehicle move forward simply by staring at a command.

Honor Magic 6 Pro with 180 Megapixel camera is on the countdown for global release!

Honor Magic 6 Pro took its place in the NBTC database with the model number BVL-N49. This points to the global version of the device.

No information was provided on whether this feature will actually be released with a car manufacturer, but Honor is showcasing new technologies in its devices at a time when smartphone manufacturers are competing to outdo each other with AI capabilities.

Huawei was forced to sell Honor to a buyer consortium in 2020 to prevent it from being affected by US sanctions. Since then, Honor has been releasing devices, including foldable phones, in an attempt to grow in the premium segment.

Currently, Honor is the fourth-largest smartphone manufacturer in China, but it remains relatively small on a global scale. It hopes that future-focused features like eye tracking will enhance the appeal of its smartphones. Honor stated that this feature is still in the testing phase and provided very little detail about the technology.
