Honor is preparing to unveil the Honor Magic 8 flagship series in China in October. Like the Vivo X300 Pro and Oppo Find X9 Pro, the Honor Magic 8 Pro will feature a bold 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. Reliable leakster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has shared new details about the periscope camera. Here are the details.
The Honor Magic 8 Pro will stand out with its camera performance
Digital blogger Ouyang Tongxuan shared information gleaned from a four-hour secret session with Honor CEO Li Jian and key team members, along with camera samples of the Honor Magic 8 Pro. Tongxuan noted Honor’s receptiveness to user feedback, which has led to rapid progress in mobile photography over the past two years.
In indoor tests, Honor phones achieved over 90 percent accuracy in over 50 scenarios compared to their competitors, achieving better balance of highlights, shadows, and colors, particularly in night shots.
The upcoming Honor Magic 8 Pro is said to deliver excellent results in all conditions, thanks to its 200-megapixel “ultra night telephoto” camera, AI-powered night mode, and powerful stabilization scene mode. These features ensure that even handheld photos taken at 10x zoom are clear and detailed, even in low light.
According to Digital Chat Station, the Honor Magic 8 Pro is equipped with a 1/1.4-inch, 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. This camera is reportedly offering an 85mm focal length, f/2.6 aperture, and 3.7x optical zoom. It also supports hybrid zoom up to 10x and CIPA-level optical stabilization. It’s not yet clear whether the camera uses a Samsung HP5 or HP9 sensor.
The main camera is said to feature a 50-megapixel sensor, a 23mm lens, and an f/1.6 aperture. This entire imaging system is being promoted with the nickname “Night God” to highlight its particularly strong night photography performance. According to other reports, the camera setup will also include a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 ultra-wide-angle lens.
