Following the recent launch of the Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro, Honor is in the news with rumors that it is working on the Magic 8 Ultra, a model that will challenge the industry’s most formidable competitors. A new leak from reliable source Digital Chat Station (DCS) has revealed key features of this device, which will rival giants like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Oppo Find X9 Ultra, and Vivo X300 Ultra.
From Snapdragon to Giant Display Technology
The Magic 8 Ultra comes with the highest-end hardware expected in the flagship market. At the heart of the phone is rumored to be Qualcomm’s latest and most powerful chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This processor will once again raise the bar in performance.
The device, which boasts a bold visual experience, will feature a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with a curved four-sided curve. Offering a 1.5K resolution, this panel will combine fluidity and sharpness. Users will also have access to an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a modern security solution, as well as 3D facial recognition technology that provides superior protection.
The most talked-about aspect of the Honor Magic 8 Ultra will be its photography capabilities. The brand is introducing a significant update to its camera hardware. The device will feature a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50R main camera sensor on the rear. This sensor, which promises ultra-high dynamic range (HDR), is expected to enter mass production in the first quarter of 2026 (Q1 2026). This means the Magic 8 Ultra could be one of the first phones to feature this new sensor.
Completing the camera setup is a periscope telephoto lens supported by a large sensor. According to leaks, this lens will have a 200-megapixel resolution and optical zoom ranging from 4.3x to 7x.
The device is expected to have a very high-capacity battery of approximately 7,000 mAh. While charging speeds aren’t specified, we’re likely to see support for 120W wired and 50W wireless charging, as with other members of the series.
The Magic 8 Ultra is expected to ship with Android 16-based MagicOS 10 out of the box. The flagship is expected to be unveiled in the first half of 2026 (H1 2026). It’s also rumored that this Ultra model will be accompanied by a compact flagship called the Magic 8 Mini, powered by the Dimensity 9500 processor.
Honor is preparing to close out 2025 with a strong push in China with the launch of the Honor 500 series (November) and GT 2 series (December). These leaked specifications of the Magic 8 Ultra could usher in a new era in mobile photography.
