Honor recently launched its Magic V2 foldable phone in China. The smartphone has taken the Chinese market by storm. According to preliminary data, the foldable model exceeded all expectations and sold out within 12 hours of the pre-sale. Even the iPhone 14 Pro Max could not match this sales success in China.
Honor Magic V2 sold out on day one
The popularity of the Honor Magic V2 is evident as it is outselling all Android models released in the past year. According to JD.com, a leading e-commerce platform, the Honor Magic V2 even beat the iPhone 14 Pro Max to take the top spot in first-day sales.
Behind the Magic V2’s success are some key technical and design considerations. For example, the phone is the thinnest and lightest foldable phone ever produced. At just 9.9mm thick when folded, it rivals regular mobile phones in terms of thinness.
The Magic V2 has an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. This makes it stand out in terms of performance. Honor also says it is using a proprietary RF chip to improve 5G performance.
The Magic V2’s external display uses a 6.43-inch 2376×1060 OLED panel. The internal display comes with a 7.92-inch 2344×2156 OLED panel. Both displays support a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate and have a peak brightness of 2500 nits.
The price of the Honor Magic V2 is $1300. The first sales figures of the Magic V2 are still unclear. However, it is safe to say that it has made a big impact in China, breaking this year’s opening record. We also do not know when it will be launched on the global market.
