Honor unveiled the Magic V3 foldable device at IFA 2024 the other day. However, some claims suggested that the company worked with Huawei and copied the design. Harsh responses came from Honor CEO on the subject.

Honor CEO Zhao Ming spoke about the links with Huawei at IFA 2024. In response to questions that the company will release a triple-foldable device in the coming days, he stated that Honor is not interested. Many users have speculated that there could be a connection between the Magic V3 and Huawei’s triple-fold phone.

Some reports on social media had suggested that Honor might have copied Huawei’s design. But CEO Zhao Ming dismissed these questions at IFA, saying that the Magic V3 design was finalized a year ago. He said that all of Honor’s designs have undergone extensive work.

WhatsApp will no longer support the old macOS app

WhatsApp has announced that it will discontinue its legacy macOS app. In this context, users need to switch to the Catalyst-based application.

In this context, the CEO suggested that the similarities with Huawei’s new foldable model could be “just coincidence”. “I think the allegations that Huawei took the blueprints from Honor or plagiarized Honor’s design drawings are nonsense,” he said.

Honor separated from Huawei years ago and became an independent brand. Its products in the global market support American technologies and can use Google services. CEO Zhao Ming also said that they have not been in close contact with Huawei in recent years.

On the other hand, Huawei has a mixed adventure in the foldable market. The company will unveil its triple-fold phone on September 9, the same day as the iPhone 16 launch, in a bid to cut the iPhone 16 headwind and draw attention to itself.
