HBO’s popular series House of the Dragon’s season two finale has been leaked online before its official broadcast date. Various scenes from the highly anticipated season finale spread over TikTok five days before its release.
On Tuesday night, a newly opened TikTok account uploaded 14 videos containing about 30 minutes of footage from the finale episode. The videos reached over 100,000 views before they were taken down. Despite the TikTok account being shut down following the leak, the videos made their way to platforms like X and Reddit. This incident mirrors leaks that occurred in past years.
Indeed, the first season finale of House of the Dragon also leaked online two days before its scheduled release. Although HBO decided not to send preview copies of the season finale to anyone in an effort to prevent such leaks, it appears these measures were insufficient.
With many international distribution partners handling the broadcasting rights, it’s becoming nearly impossible to avoid such leaks for series like House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. Ironically, many consider this leak to be the most exciting event of the second season.
