How did Sony’s $200 million spend go to waste with Concord?

Ana sayfa /

Sony recently released a new game called Concord for PC and PlayStation 5. The team-based shooter has been a huge disappointment since its release. Finally, it was revealed that Sony spent 8 years and 200 million dollars on the game.

Sony’s most expensive and time-consuming production in years, Concord, failed, sources have revealed. According to industry veterans LearningTheLaw and Grummz, Sony spent $200 million and 8 years in development to bring Concord to market.

However, the game failed to engage users after its release. The data shows that the PC version struggled to reach even 700 concurrent players after launch. A similar situation is thought to have happened on the PlayStation 5 front.

Surprise hybrid and EV step from Hyundai!

Hyundai has announced that it will scale back its plans for electric cars and expand its range of hybrid cars.

According to SteamDB data, the standard version of Concord, which launched on August 23rd, struggled to increase player numbers even in its first weekend.

While an increase in players is usually expected in the first weekend, Concord failed to meet this expectation. On Saturday, August 24th, the game’s instant player count dropped to 473, and by the next day it was down to 402. As we write this, only 96 people are playing the game on Steam.

Sony wants to recoup the cost of the time and resources spent on Concord by raising PlayStation 5 prices in Japan. Of course, it remains unclear how the company spent 8 years and 200 million dollars on a game that attracted less than 1000 players after launch.
