Android smartphones come with a comprehensive settings menu hidden by default. Called Developer Options, this menu is generally designed for app developers and advanced users. However, regular users may also need access to this menu for operations such as USB debugging, changing animation speeds, or OEM unlocking. Activating this hidden menu is a simple and safe process.
Access Android’s hidden settings!
To enable developer mode, you must first go to your phone’s Settings menu. For Samsung phones, scroll to the bottom and find and click on the “About Phone” heading. On Xiaomi phones, this option may be at the top of the menu. The screen that appears will show the phone’s technical information. If you are a Samsung user, you will also need to click on the “Software Information” option at this stage.
Finding the line that says “Build Number” is the most critical point. On Xiaomi phones, you need to find the “OS version” line. After finding the relevant line, you need to tap on it 7 times in quick succession. As you tap, small notifications will appear on the screen saying “3 steps to becoming a developer”.
After the seventh touch, your device may ask you to enter your screen lock password or pattern for security purposes. Once you enter the password correctly, a message will appear on the screen saying “You are now a developer.” This indicates that the process has been successfully completed.
You can now access the newly opened menu. Return to the main Settings screen. Depending on your Android version and phone brand, you may find the Developer Options heading under the System menu or directly under Additional Settings. From here, you can change any setting you want. When you’re finished, you can disable this mode by turning off the switch at the top of the menu.
