What are the conditions to refund a game on Steam?
Of course, while refunds for games on Steam are relatively easy, the platform has certain conditions. The reason for these conditions is to prevent people from playing games for an extended period and then requesting a refund. Let’s take a look at the refund conditions together. The conditions for refunding a game on Steam are as follows:
- You can refund your purchase within a maximum of 14 days. Steam does not provide refunds for purchases exceeding 14 days.
- You have two hours to refund a game on Steam. The platform decides whether you like the game or not based on whether you have played it for over 2 hours. If you have played the game for more than 2 hours within 14 days, your money will not be refunded.
- Refunds cannot be made for products purchased from third-party sites or sellers.
Refunding a game on Steam
Here we come to the most important part, the ways to refund a game on Steam. The first thing you need to do is log in to your Steam account. Then, click on the “Help” button located in the top left corner of the page. When you click on the “Help” button, you will see the text “Steam Support,” click on it to go to the Support section.
On this page, you can access support topics about your recent purchases, your account, the Steam community, and more. Click on the ‘Games and Applications’ button to see your recent purchases. If you don’t see the game you purchased in the list, you can also find it by using the ‘Search’ section below.
On the opened page, you will be greeted with the question ‘What issue are you experiencing with this product?’ Here, you can select one of the issues you are experiencing or choose a problem related to the game to request a refund. Additionally, you can also use the option ‘Help me troubleshoot gameplay or technical issues’ instead of refunding the game.
If you’ve decided to request a refund and meet the conditions, you can initiate the refund request by using the refund option and selecting the issue for the second time. After creating the request, Steam reviews it and responds within a week. Once the request is reviewed and the Steam game refund is approved, the refund amount is usually credited back to your account within 1 week in cash or Steam balance.
