Since the release of Windows 11, one of the most requested features by users has been the ability to remove news from Windows Widgets. One of the reasons for this is that garbage news also falls into the stream. Of course, you see the news that will be useful to you, but in some cases you may be exposed to too much unnecessary news.
Now you can get rid of annoying news
“How To Make A Man Miss You?”, “Wedding Cancelled as Bride Discovers Groom is Married with 7 Kids”. “Is she the right girl?” and similar news can be an eyesore. Maybe the news about which diets celebrities follow does not appeal to you. Of course, such news may also seem relevant to your region. There are also claims that Microsoft’s algorithms promote is often misleading or even harmful. Some users said that they do not use Widgets just to avoid the news. Unfortunately, there is no single button to remove news from Windows Widgets. It takes a little effort for this.
Here is how to turn off news from Windows Widgets:
- Open Windows Widgets and click your profile icon in the upper-right corner.
- Click Manage interests. The link will get you to the Microsoft Start portal and ask you to specify your interests. Select one or two topics that match your preferences the most—this will help make the feed more tolerable.
- Open Windows Widgets again and click refresh.
- Click the button with an eye icon and select Hide stories from this source.
- Repeat step 4 until Windows stops serving you new stories.
- Restart your computer and open Windows Widgets.
28 years old Print Screen key is changing
In the past days, Windows 11 came up with another news. The company has decided to change the feature of the Print Screen key, which has been the same for 28 years, to the Snipping Tool. Previously, this key was used to take a screenshot of the screen. This screenshot was copied to the clipboard. The Windows 11 Snipping Tool, combines features from the legacy Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch.
The default rectangular mode lets users capture a select portion of the screen. There’s a freeform capture mode, a Window mode, and a full-screen mode. Moreover, it allows you to do a timed screen capture, and also there’s even a screen recorder mode within the Snipping Tool.
