While there are a few ways to share your location, there are also a few things you need to know before trying to send it. You have to make sure that you’ve enabled location services in your iPhone’s Settings. Then, you can share your location via the Messages app, Contacts, and both Apple Maps and Google Maps.
Enable location services on your iPhone
As we told above, you need to make sure that the location services are enabled before sharing your location with someone.
- Open the Settings app.
- Click “Privacy” and then select “Location Services.“
- Ensure Location Services is on by swiping the slider to the right and turning it green.
- If you also want to share your location continuously with someone for a while (rather than just sending a one-time location message) tap “Share My Location” and then ensure it’s on by swiping the slider to the right.
Share your location with a contact

- Open the Contacts app.

- Open Google Maps.
- Click the blue dot that indicates your location (if you don’t see it on the screen, you can click the arrow in the lower right to put your position in the middle of the map).
