Huawei and TikTok join forces for AI!

Ana sayfa / News

As global technology competition heats up, developments in the field of artificial intelligence are creating a new struggle between companies. In particular, the US embargoes against China are forcing Chinese companies to turn to domestic solutions. In this context, TikTok owner ByteDance has agreed with Huawei for artificial intelligence operations.

US export restrictions on artificial intelligence chips are driving Chinese tech giant ByteDance to domestic brands like Huawei for its AI needs. The company that owns TikTok will use Huawei’s own chip for its artificial intelligence model.

TikTok owner ByteDance plans to develop a new model of artificial intelligence using Huawei Ascend 910B chips. AI will be at the center of the company’s operations, powering features used in many of ByteDance’s apps.

Mazda’s very cheap electric sedan revealed

Mazda has started taking orders for its affordable electric sedan, the EZ-6. Despite its price, it has features such as leather upholstery.

The new model is expected to be less advanced than the Doubao model, which was developed with Nvidia chips. But strict US rules were not enough to defeat ByteDance’s AI plans. Unable to get chips from Nvidia, the company made a deal with Huawei.

In this context, ByteDance increased its orders for the Huawei Ascend 910B chip and became one of the company’s biggest customers. However, it reportedly received a third of the 100,000 chips ordered due to limited supply. In this context, Huawei is expected to increase production.

Compared to the options offered by Nvidia, Huawei provides a much less advanced chip. Therefore, a clear timeline for ByteDance’s new model was not shared. However, this move shows that US sanctions are pushing Chinese tech giants to domestic solutions for important components.
