Huawei reached 1 billion devices with HarmonyOS!

Ana sayfa / News

Chinese tech giant Huawei has achieved what was once thought impossible, making a significant mark with its self-developed operating system, HarmonyOS, in the face of Android and iOS. By doing what Microsoft could not in the past, Huawei has managed to have its operating system used in a billion different devices. In this sense, the company appears to have succeeded in its claim to rival Android and iOS. Here are the details…

As you may recall, the early 2020s saw a fierce trade war between the U.S. and China. This war significantly impacted tech companies both economically and structurally. Following this conflict, Huawei parted ways with Google and could no longer use services like the Play Store. At this point, Huawei made a bold decision to challenge iOS and Android with HarmonyOS.

Initially released for Honor Smart TVs in 2019 and later for wireless modems, HarmonyOS became available for Huawei-produced smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches starting from June 2021.

Huawei’s decision to create its ecosystem after parting ways with Google paved the way for substantial success. Over the past five years, the number of devices with the HarmonyOS operating system reached a total of 1 billion.

Although things seem to be going well for Huawei, the company’s success has yet to make a significant impact globally. The use of HarmonyOS is currently largely limited to the Chinese market, and it remains uncertain whether it will be accepted in the European market in the near future.
