Huawei is once again in the spotlight with next-generation processors
It is claimed that the development process of the Taishan V120 core, which Huawei initially designed for mobile platforms in its Kirin 9000 series, is currently progressing rapidly. However, we still do not know the full technological capacity that the company possesses.
The processor, which is estimated to be produced in the second generation 7-nanometer design process of SMIC, reportedly scored 1527 points in the Geekbench 6 test. The Zen 3-based EPYC 7413 managed to score 1538 points in the same test. So, we see that the difference between them has narrowed considerably.
However, considering that Zen 3-based processors were released in the latter part of 2020, we can say that Huawei still has a long way to go in processor technology. Whether the company, burdened by the American embargo, can compete with Western technology in processors remains to be seen in the coming period.
