Huawei has officially announced the launch date of its next-generation flagship smartphone series and its high-end foldable model. The company is unveiling the Mate X7 foldable device alongside the highly anticipated Mate 80 series in China on November 25th. Ahead of this launch, a phone touted as the most eye-catching model in the series has been spotted live for the first time.
Huawei Mate 80 spied live
A promotional video shared by Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, offers the first clear look at a phone in the Mate 80 series. This model is believed to be the Mate 80 Pro Max, which replaces the Plus model in the series. The device comes in a gold finish, giving it a luxurious look. The design features the circular rear camera module, a common sight in Huawei’s flagship phones.
However, the most striking design innovation is a second circular cutout located just below the camera module. This circular area is said to indicate a technology similar to MagSafe, which Huawei has developed for attaching magnetic accessories.
Alongside the Mate 80 series, the Mate X7, the successor to last year’s Mate X6, is also being unveiled at the same event. Leaked information suggests the Mate X7 will receive a major design overhaul.
This foldable phone is expected to feature a large 7.95-inch internal display with 2K resolution. Both the Mate 80 series phones and the Mate X7 are reportedly powered by Huawei’s next-generation Kirin 9030 processor. The new Mate series is being launched as the successor to the Mate 70 series, introduced last year.
