Huawei has officially released images of its new foldable phone, the Mate X7. Both design details and expected specifications have been revealed for the device, which will be unveiled alongside the Mate 80 series on November 25th. Immediately following the unveiling of the Mate 80 series design, the design of the company’s new foldable phone, the Mate X7, has also been revealed.
Mate X7 design revealed
The device resembles its predecessor in terms of design. The back of the phone features a large camera module surrounded by a gold-colored frame. This module houses a triple camera system consisting of main, ultra-wide, and telephoto sensors, with individual lens cutouts clearly visible.
The company emphasized the device’s durability with videos published on its official Weibo account. According to the images, the Mate X7 underwent a series of rigorous tests before leaving the factory. The phone successfully passed stress tests such as 80°C hot water spraying, an iron ball impact test, and repeated folding. The technical details shared in the video indicate that the phone is IP58 and IP59 dust and water resistance certified.
The Mate X7 also has a Collector’s Edition. This special edition features a second-generation Basalt tempered Kunlun glass exterior. The standard Mate X7 also uses second-generation Kunlun glass, but the Basalt version is not included.
According to information from reliable leaker Digital Chat Station, the Mate X7 will be powered by Huawei’s new Kirin 9030 processor. The device will reportedly be available with various RAM options, including 12GB, 16GB, and 20GB. The 20GB RAM option, in particular, is a first not only for foldable phones but also for the general flagship segment.
The camera setup is said to include a 50MP variable aperture main camera and a periscope telephoto lens. The device is also expected to be available in Light Blue, Purple, and Red. The Red model represents the Collector’s Edition.
