Huawei has officially unveiled the MatePad Edge, a high-performance 2-in-1 HarmonyOS tablet aimed at productivity users and content creators. The new tablet launched alongside the company’s Mate X7 foldable phone and Mate 80 series smartphones.

The MatePad Edge features a flexible 14.2-inch OLED display with a sharp 3120 x 2080 resolution (3.1K) and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Thanks to thin 4.1mm bezels, it achieves a 94% screen-to-body ratio and relies on an ultra-narrow border packaging process for its 32MP front camera, eliminating any notch.

The panel supports HDR Vivid, reaches 1000 nits of peak brightness, and maintains professional color accuracy with full P3 color gamut coverage. The tablet is also available in a soft light display version with anti-glare treatment for improved comfort in bright environments.

The MatePad Edge is powered by Huawei’s Kirin X90 or X90A chipset, a processor used in desktop HarmonyOS PCs. Huawei claims this chip delivers a 3.8x performance increase compared to the 2023 MatePad Pro 13.2.

The device runs HarmonyOS 5.1 and supports dual-mode operation, including seamless switching between tablet and desktop user interfaces, four-finger gestures, Control Center toggle, and keyboard shortcuts.

The tablet features a custom cooling solution consisting of dual aluminum fans, VC heat dissipation modules, micro-carved airflow channels, and approximately 4,000 perforated vents. The special liquid-cooled version also features graphene layers and a dual-core micropump, delivering up to 28W of thermal capacity.

The MatePad Edge has a 12,900 mAh battery and supports 140W Huawei SuperCharge fast charging. It also features 40W reverse charging for other devices. It features a 50MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and an 8MP ultra-wide macro lens with an f/2.2 aperture. The main camera supports 8K photos and 4K video recording. The 32MP ultra-wide sensor, capable of 1080p video recording, is ideal for video conferencing and creative selfies.

The tablet features a six-speaker stereo system with near-ear spatial audio and panoramic surround mode when connected to a headset. For connectivity, it supports dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, USB-C 3.1 Gen1 with DP1.2 video output, and Huawei’s new NearLink standard.

The Huawei MatePad Edge is available in Deep Space Gray and Moonlight Silver. Select models include a floating magnetic keyboard and support for the optional M-Pencil Pro stylus.
