Will Trump meet with Huawei again?
Trump’s return has created both hope and concern in China’s chip industry. Analysts from the chip industry think that many different approaches are possible in the chip industry with the new president. As a matter of fact, some Chinese companies hope to re-cooperate with the US under the Trump administration.
Huawei, in particular, is seen as a potential beneficiary of the loosening of trade restrictions. The technology giant has made progress in chip development despite tougher US sanctions. In addition to 5G chips for its smartphones, it managed to produce the Ascend 910C chip in the field of artificial intelligence.
According to analysts, Trump’s restriction of trade controls on China will help Huawei to better develop its chip capabilities. However, Trump’s uncertainty in the decision-making process leads Chinese companies to prepare contingency plans.
Of course, apart from the chip industry, Qualcomm Snapdragon and Google’s Android software cannot be licensed to companies like Huawei. Considering that Huawei has been developing the HarmonyOS operating system for a long time, it is highly unlikely to return to Android again.
