As technology advances and file sizes grow, the need for storage space continues to increase. While 16GB storage products used to seem massive in the past, nowadays, the transition has been made to terabytes and even petabytes. Huawei has introduced a new storage product, the OceanStor Arctic series, boasting a capacity of 10 petabytes, which is poised to change the game. Here’s the Huawei OceanStor Arctic, consuming 90% less power…

Advancements and innovations, especially in artificial intelligence, are beginning to play a significant role in every sector, including the storage industry. According to research, 328.77 million terabytes of data are generated every day. The increasing storage challenges and data sizes each day are leading companies towards higher-capacity devices. Huawei is innovating in this market by introducing the OceanStor Arctic series with a capacity of 10 petabytes.

Huawei introduced two models as part of its new series: OceanStor A800 and OceanStor A310. According to statements made by Dr. Peter Zhou at MWC 2024, these models aim to enhance the visibility, manageability, and data collection of artificial intelligence training data globally. Additionally, they target increasing efficiency and preprocessing in training.

Huawei, may have used American technology!

In recent times, Huawei, which has been highlighted for its technological achievements, has been shaken by allegations that it used American technology.

One of the most significant features of Huawei’s new storage devices is that they consume 90% less power compared to hard disk drives. The OceanStor Arctic series stands out by being considerably faster than SSDs while consuming 90% less power than HDDs, which is quite surprising. Furthermore, the new devices have emerged through the use of magneto-electric disk technologies developed by Huawei for cold storage.

According to the announcement made by the company, the new disks are introduced with Huawei’s magneto-electric technologies, and the OceanStor series owes its ability to consume 90% less power to this technology. The first versions of OceanStor Arctic storage devices are expected to be globally released in the first half of 2025.
