Huawei’s $3,000 tri-fold phone in durability test!

Ana sayfa / News

Huawei’s Mate XT model, which attracts attention with its revolutionary triple-fold design, has attracted great attention since the day it was introduced. In the brutal durability test conducted by the famous YouTube channel JerryRigEverything, the disadvantages of the Mate XT model, which is described as “the coolest phone in the world”, were revealed.

The nearly $3,000 luxury device turned out to be much more fragile than ordinary foldable phones in the durability test. The Mate XT, which went through stages such as scratching, burning and bending in the tests, proved to be more durable than expected in some stages, while it showed that it was vulnerable to impacts, especially due to the sensitive structure of its screen.

If we talk about the Mate XT’s box, the device comes in a very large and flashy box. Huawei has included a pair of FreeBuds 5 headphones and a car charger with 88-watt fast charging support. However, even these extra accessories were insufficient to protect the device’s screen against a light knife blow.

Although the 10.2-inch, 3K resolution 90Hz display survived ordinary scratch tests, a snake-like crack appeared on the screen after a light blow with the handle of a knife. This shows that the flexibility and innovation offered by the tri-fold design makes some compromises in terms of precision and durability.

Despite this, the Mate XT performed quite well in JerryRigEverything’s dust and dirt test. The hinge system, which is the weak point of most foldable phones, was solid on the Mate XT and the device was able to resist dust in the tough test.

It was also interesting to note that the internal structure of the device can be easily opened. However, this disassembly process makes little sense after the phone has already been damaged. In short, while the Huawei Mate XT is technologically remarkable, it’s a fragile device that needs a little more attention in terms of durability.
