The Devolver Digital Showcase has recently presented us with an intriguing surprise: the announcement of Human Fall Flat 2. While the official release date remains a mystery, the much-anticipated sequel to the physics-based platformer is slated to land on PC and all major console platforms.
Human Fall Flat 2: A blend of creation and havoc
Sticking true to the essence of the original game, Human Fall Flat 2 is all about balancing the art of construction and the thrill of destruction. The first game was a hit about half a decade ago, and its sequel promises to build upon that success. No Brakes Games, the developers, have promised that Human Fall Flat 2 will be “bigger, better, and clumsier” and will take the gameplay to “the next level,” according to the game’s official FAQ.
The publishing baton has now been handed over from Curve Games to Devolver Digital. Curve Games, the original publisher, is known for popular titles like Lawn Mowing Simulator, The Ascent, and Autonauts.
Anticipating improved physics and platforming
Human Fall Flat 2 will introduce a new physics engine specifically created for this sequel. This indicates more precise and demanding platforming is in the pipeline. The initial Human: Fall Flat received high praise, holding a respectable Metacritic score of 70 and an average user score of 7.5, extending to Steam, where the 2016 game’s reception has been “very positive.”
Since its inception, Human: Fall Flat has been nourished with plenty of free content, encouraging players to keep returning. The latest addition was the Copper World Quest, released in March 2023, which introduced 23 fresh levels from the development team. To date, over 5000 Steam Workshop levels are available for players to explore.
