Xiaomi has tightened its inspections on the app store to increase security for its users. In the inspections conducted in August 2024, more than 18,000 applications in the store were examined and more than 600 applications were found to contain various violations. These violations mainly include privacy, authorization and functional issues. So, what kind of problems did Xiaomi find in these applications?
More than 600 illegal apps removed from Xiaomi App Store in August
One of the prominent violations was that some apps were offering content that violated user privacy. For example, an e-commerce app used a system that redirected users to inappropriate and low-quality pages when they clicked on the privacy policy. Xiaomi immediately removed the app from the store and suspended the developer’s account.
Another app came to the agenda due to logo violation. It was determined that this app imitated the design and logo of another app. Such copyright violations both reduce the quality of the store and harm the efforts of developers. Xiaomi detected other similar violations from the same developer as well as this app and removed all apps from the store.
In addition, apps with excessive advertising content also caught Xiaomi’s radar. Some apps contained excessive ads that negatively affected the user experience. This prevented users from using the app efficiently. Xiaomi also removed these apps from the store that harmed the user experience.
