Crytek has announced a brand new free update for its popular multiplayer first-person shooter Hunt: Showdown. But there’s a downside. The company announced that the new update will end support for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game, and will also see the release of a free next-gen update for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Hunt: Showdown offers a tense experience where players hunt monsters together or against each other. Crytek announced that the next-gen update, which will be released on August 15th, will give players access to a new map, an upgrade to version 5.11 of CryEngine, performance improvements and a new user interface design. The update will be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X.

With this update, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users will no longer be able to play the game. Crytek said that players’ accounts, rights and DLC will be transferred to the next-gen version for free. The company also announced that more details about the update will be shared in the coming months.

The update will also hint at Hunt: Showdown’s future design and content direction. Crytek’s to-do list includes community feedback, strategies to combat cheating and toxic behavior, and changes to game mechanics and progression systems.
