Hyundai unveiled its new off-road concept, the Crater Concept, at a press conference in Los Angeles. Designed as a compact off-road SUV, the Crater reflects the next phase of the brand’s next-generation XRT design approach, which reinforces its emphasis on durability and capability. This concept draws attention with its powerful and bold design that symbolizes the spirit of exploration and adventure.

The Crater Concept elevates the XRT identity, previously seen on the Ioniq 5 XRT, Santa Cruz XRT, and Palisade XRT PRO models. With design details that emphasize safety, connectivity, and functionality, the model exhibits both visual aesthetics and a powerful performance character.

Hyundai’s “Art of Steel” design language combines the strength and flexibility of steel with a sculptural aesthetic. Flowing volumes and sharp lines give the vehicle a powerful yet timeless presence, and this approach is clearly evident in the Crater Concept’s exterior.

The concept’s exterior design demonstrates the vehicle’s readiness for challenging off-road conditions with its sharp body lines, strong underskid plates, wide fenders, and high approach and departure angles.

Details that both visually enhance the design and provide a performance advantage include 18-inch hexagonal wheels and 33-inch off-road tires. The Crater’s interior, meanwhile, has been designed with a focus on function, with technology-savvy and adventure-loving users in mind. Inside the cabin, soft yet durable materials combine with robust structural details to offer both comfort and durability.

Furthermore, elements such as the exposed roll cage, integrated grab handles, and four-point seat belts enhance the sense of safe exploration. The Crater Concept concretely demonstrates Hyundai’s vision for future XRT models.
