Social media giant Instagram has finally launched its official app for iPad on the App Store. With this long-awaited development, a version of the popular app specifically for iPadOS is now available.
Instagram has officially arrived on iPad
The app includes all the feed, stories, and other core features users are accustomed to. However, Instagram has designed its new iPad app to emphasize Reels. According to the announcement, users are immediately greeted with Reels upon opening the app.
The goal is to provide an enjoyable entertainment experience on large screens. Stories are also located at the top, allowing users to easily connect with loved ones. Messaging is accessible with a single tap.
The new app also features a dedicated “Following” tab that allows users to personalize their content feed. This tab makes it easy to switch between different content sources.
The “All” option displays recommended posts and Reels from followed accounts. The “Friends” option brings together recommended content from both followed and mutually followed accounts.
The “Recent” option lists posts and Reels from followed accounts in chronological order, starting with the most recent post. Users can arrange the order of these different feeds as they wish.
Instagram’s iPad app offers a multi-column layout for sections like messaging and notifications. This layout, unlike the iPhone app, allows users to navigate these key sections with fewer taps.
This is seen as a sign of Meta’s emphasis on large-screen apps, following its recent release of WhatsApp for iPad.
