Now the question arises, isn’t this feature already available? We could already share posts with our Close Friends list if we didn’t want to share them with all our followers. This feature provided privacy for users with public accounts.

Sometimes, while browsing Instagram, you may have seen yourself in someone’s Close Friends list even if you’re not that close to them. Unfortunately, this happened because the Close Friends feature allowed sharing with only one group. However, with the new update, you’ll be able to group your followers and share with multiple groups when posting a Story.

Sometimes, you might want people outside your closest friend group to see your posts. This is where Instagram Stories’ new feature comes in handy. This new feature allows you to create and maintain multiple lists, so you won’t have to add people who don’t fit into one group to your Close Friends list. Mosseri stated, “It allows you to share your stories with smaller groups and gives you more control over who can see your stories.
