Meta has announced a new feature that will allow Instagram users to personalize the Explore page. This will improve the platform’s ability to reset the recommendation algorithm, allowing users to shape what content they want to see by specifying their interests.
Instagram will provide personalized Explore control
According to the statement made, the algorithm, which is available to a certain group of users as of today, will soon be available to all Instagram users. With the new tool, users will be able to not only reset the content they see in the Explore, Home and Reels sections, but also unfollow accounts they do not want to follow. They will also be able to manage the accounts they follow more effectively. This will allow each user to create their own unique content experience.
The Meta spokesperson emphasized that this development was implemented based on user feedback and is part of the platform’s efforts to improve the user experience. Stating that they especially took into account the feedback of young users, the spokesperson stated that the new feature will support young people to be more aware and in control in the digital world.
In this context, young users in the UK, the US, Australia and Canada will be offered the opportunity to choose the topics they are interested in and focus more on this content. Thus, young people will be able to shape their Instagram experience according to their tastes and preferences.
Meta is also working to limit the variety of content for young users. The company’s Transparency Center page has detailed information about the work being done to protect parents and teens, and the types of content being hidden or removed for young adults.
